Desktop 2008
|
My current client computer was bought in June 2008 and replaced my trusty Shuttle SN25P – As ever, I still wanted a small casing with not too many fans and hence not too noisy. But I also wanted a machine that would be able to play World of Warcraft pretty decent for some years to come.
At first I had an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ CPU built in it, but it later got replaced to the now AMD Phenom II x4 940 CPU. A quite decent boost in power. Furthermore it came with an Asus EN8800GT Top graphics card, but for some reason it stopped working a year after, and the reseller offered me my money back – Hence, I bought the Asus GeForce 9800 GTX+ TOP graphics card.
I’ve had a couple of harddrives installed in it, but when the OCZ 120GB SSD was in payable range, I went for it and tried it. It’s blizz! Everything loads much faster. The interesting thing will be the longtime usage of the drive and whether it’ll hold out, or break down and do weird stuff.
I started out with 2GB, but when Windows 7 entered the market (in beta-stage) I decided to upgrade to 4GB – You can still feel the difference, when upgrading the memory of your computer. So I can recommend upgrading 🙂
